A grant towards Poles in
Middle Asia exhibit |
A cash grant of $500 to
support organization of an exhibit about Poles in Middle Asia
(Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan etc) in 19th and 20th century in Seattle. The exhibit is
organized by PHF in collaboration with Dr. Olga Medvedeva of
Vancouver, BC, and based on Dr. Medvedeva's archives.

& exhibit for the Wiktor Siminski project |
A cash grant of $250 towards
initial costs of organizing a fundraiser for the the documentary movie
project. The fundraiser will be hosted by PHF and Mr. Julian
Siminski, the producer of the movie and will include an exhibit of
photos of Wiktor Siminski's art. |

doc movie project |
Mr. Siminski was an
artist and a survivor of the Nazi Sachsenhausen camp. A cash grant of
$250 goes towards a documentary movie about him and his art that is
being made with support of the Film Arts Foundation by Mr. Julian
Simiski of Blue Mountain Pictures, all based in California.

Sep 2003:
A grant for George Gordon's
family reunification |
A cash grant of $250
towards the George Gordon Holocaust and War Victims Tracing Case fund at the Seattle Red
Cross. Mr. Gordon, born Jerzy Budzynski, is a local survivor of
nazi death camps at Stuthof and Buchenvald. Only in July, 2003 did he
learn that his sister Krystyna also survived. The Seattle Red Cross
organized a family reunion trip for Mr. Gordon to Wroclaw, Poland. |

towards the cost of the Polonez group giving a performance in Seattle.
The group comes from Vancouver, BC to perform at the 85th anniversary
gala of Polish Home Association on Oct 25. More. |

improvements at the Polish Home in Seattle |
A cash grant of $5000
for the facility improvements at the Polish Home in Seattle. The money
goes towards replacing upper hall windows with noise-reducing ones to
address serious concerns of the neighborhood residents and avert a legal
action threatening cultural programs at the Polish Home. |
June 2003:

dance group |
A cash grant of $1000
supporting a visit & performance by the Walbrzych folk sing & dance
group from Poland in Seattle in the fall of 2003.

Department of the UW |
A cash grant of $1000
supporting events involving Polish language and culture organized by the
Department of the Slavic Languages and Literatures of the University of
Washington in Seattle. The money goes towards the Polish Avant-Garde

exhibition |
A cash grant of $350
towards the initial costs of organizing the
Olbinski poster exhibition in Seattle.
May 2003 update: the exhibition cost was about $5000 and was fully
covered by public support and the fundraiser held during Mr. Olbinski's
visit to Seattle. Thank you for your support! |
Mar 2003:
A medical grant for Zack
Moss |
A cash grant of $1000
towards medical cost of recovery and rehabilitation for Zack Moss. Zack
was a victim of a hit and run accident when attending to his bike at a
roadside. He suffered broken vertebrae, was in coma for 2 weeks and has
been paralyzed. He cannot speak, can barely move and is undergoing a
rehabilitation.

the grant pays for Zack's speech therapy. |
Mar 2003:
A medical grant for
Krzysztof Tasak |
A cash grant of $2132
towards medical costs of recovery and rehabilitation for Mr. Krzysztof
Tasak. Mr. Tasak is a paraplegic after a diving accident last fall. He
is now undergoing an intensive therapy at a convalescent center in Des
Moines. Sep 2003 update: the money was used to pay for a special
orthopedic brace supporting the right side of the body. It makes
possible for Mr. Tasak to learn walking again. |
